Thrums Vets is an independent, locally run mixed veterinary practice that has served its community since 1948, with its main practice in Kirriemuir and further practices in Blairgowrie, Forfar and Scone — no call centres, no corporate chains, just a team that knows every animal and every owner by name. They wanted a set of films that communicated exactly that: the value of choosing a local, independent practice over a larger corporate alternative.

Rather than stage set-piece scenes, we filmed the practice as it genuinely is. Over three days I followed three different vets through the full, staggering range of their work — from a routine check-up with a labrador to an equine x-ray first thing in a stable, to a farm visit in wellies. Nothing was staged; the authenticity of the practice carried the films. The care and character the practice wanted to convey were simply, obviously true on camera.

The project became three complementary pieces: a short promotional film, a longer observational day-in-the-life film, and a focused film explaining the practice’s Practice Plan membership. You can read more about the shoot in the journal: Authentic Storytelling for Local Business.
