Aerial Filming and Drone Cinematography in Scotland

Scotland seen from the air is a different country. The scale of the Highlands, the geometry of the coastline, the relationship between landscape features that only becomes apparent from altitude: aerial cinematography reveals things that no ground-level camera can show. We have been using aerial platforms across Scotland for years, building a knowledge of locations, flight conditions and the practical logistics of shooting in a country where weather windows can be short and airspace permissions complex.

All Morrocco Media aerial work is carried out by fully trained and CAA-registered operators. We hold the relevant permissions for commercial aerial work and manage the regulatory requirements, restricted airspace notifications and site-specific permissions as part of our standard service. You do not need to navigate the CAA framework yourself.

Our drone fleet shoots in 4K and above, with stabilised gimbals that deliver broadcast-quality footage in conditions that would ground less capable equipment. We have shot at altitude in the Cairngorms and the Glenshee ski area, along the full length of the Argyll coast, and in the Outer Hebrides where wind is a constant variable. That operational experience means we understand what aerial filming actually requires in Scottish conditions, which is different from what it requires on a calm summer day further south.

Aerial filming is most effective when it is integrated into a wider production rather than treated as an add-on. We routinely combine drone footage with ground-based cinematography to create the context and scale that makes landscape films feel genuinely immersive. For clients who need aerial footage only, we offer a dedicated drone day service with full editing and delivery.

“I have worked with Morrocco Media for several years now on major destination campaigns including Wild About Argyll, Heart and Soul of Scotland and West Coast Waters, and also filming with Mark Beaumont. Stefan is a very talented filmmaker who has consistently delivered great content. I thoroughly enjoy working with Stefan and would highly recommend Morrocco Media.”

Frequently asked questions

Are your drone operators CAA-registered?

Yes. All Morrocco Media aerial work is carried out by fully trained and CAA-registered operators. We hold the relevant permissions for commercial aerial work and manage regulatory requirements, restricted airspace notifications and site-specific permissions as part of our standard service, so clients do not need to navigate the CAA framework themselves.

Can you fly in the Cairngorms and other National Parks?

Yes. We have shot at altitude in the Cairngorms and the Glenshee ski area and are experienced in arranging the airspace and landowner permissions that National Park and estate filming can require. Securing land permissions is a separate process from airspace compliance, and we handle both.

What quality does your drone footage deliver?

Our drones shoot in 4K and above with stabilised gimbals that deliver broadcast-quality footage in conditions that would ground less capable equipment — including the high winds common on the Argyll coast and in the Outer Hebrides.

Can I book a drone-only shoot?

Yes. Aerial filming is most effective integrated into a wider production, but for clients who need aerial footage alone we offer a dedicated drone day service with full editing and delivery.
