Tourism Video Production in Scotland

Scotland's landscape is a production asset unlike anything else in the UK. The challenge is knowing how to use it. After twenty years filming across the Highlands, Argyll, the Hebrides and Perthshire, Morrocco Media understands what the Scottish outdoors looks like at its best and how to be there when the light arrives.

We have produced destination video content for some of Scotland's largest tourism campaigns. The Wild About Argyll series, Heart and Soul of Scotland, West Coast Waters and Outer Hebrides Tourism are among the campaigns we have shot, edited and delivered for tourism organisations across the country. That work brought us into close collaboration with VisitScotland, regional tourism partnerships and the Scottish Government, and gave us a working knowledge of what tourism commissioners need from a production partner: reliability, creative vision and footage that makes people want to travel.

Tourism video works best when it is specific. A shot of a beach at golden hour could be anywhere. A film that captures the texture of a particular glen, the sound of a particular estuary, the atmosphere of a particular community tells a story that no other destination can replicate. We make those films. We know the locations, the permissions, the seasonal windows and the quality of light that only comes in the Northwest Highlands between October and March.

Our services for tourism clients cover the full production cycle from creative development and scripting through location scouting, cinematography, drone footage, interview production, editing, colour grading and delivery in all required formats for broadcast, web and social media. We are a small, dedicated team which means the director of photography on your project is the same person who developed the brief with you. There is no handover to a junior crew.

If you represent a destination, a tourism business, an accommodation provider or a regional tourism organisation, we would welcome a conversation about what your next campaign needs to achieve.

Frequently asked questions

How much does tourism video production cost in Scotland?

Tourism video production costs in Scotland vary depending on the length of the film, the number of shoot days, the locations involved and the post-production requirements. A single-day production with a one to three minute final film typically ranges from £1,500 to £5,000. Multi-day campaigns with drone footage, multiple locations and broadcast-standard delivery will be priced accordingly. Morrocco Media provides detailed quotes based on each brief.

What is the best time of year to film in Scotland?

Scotland offers distinctive filming conditions in every season. Summer provides long days and accessible locations but can be hazy. Autumn delivers exceptional colour and low-angle light. Winter, particularly between October and March in the Northwest Highlands, produces the dramatic, moody conditions that distinguish the best Scottish landscape films from generic outdoor content. Spring is excellent for clarity and colour. Morrocco Media advises on seasonal conditions as part of the pre-production process.

Do you film outside Scotland?

Morrocco Media is based in Perthshire and the majority of our work is in Scotland. We do take on commissions across the UK when the project is suited to our specialism. For international adventure and sport documentary projects, these are handled through Quiet Eye Productions.
